Gravel Grit’n Grind Becomes Part of Nordic Gravel Series!
Exciting Cycling Event Set for Halmstad in August 2026
The annual Gravel Grit’n Grind cycling event is taking a significant step forward in 2026, with a new organizer and as part of the Nordic Gravel Series (NGS). The event will continue as a qualifying race for the UCI Gravel World Series (GWS), offering participants a chance to compete at an international level.
UCI Gravel World Series Qualification
The UCI Gravel World Series is the largest gravel racing series globally, providing an opportunity to qualify for the World Championships. The top 25% of participants in each race can represent their country at the World Championships in Australia in October 2026. The Saturday stage of Gravel Grit’n Grind welcomes UCI qualification for the fifth consecutive year, establishing itself as one of the most established events in the GWS calendar.
Nordic Gravel Series: Connecting Nordic Landscapes
Nordic Gravel Series, founded in 2018, is the largest gravel series in the Nordic region, featuring events in Finland, Sweden, and Norway. The series aims to promote and enable gravel events across the Nordic countries. Participants will experience gravel and forest roads through diverse landscapes – from coastal areas to inland regions.
”Gravel Grit’n Grind is an annual international event that contributes in many ways to Halmstad, not least by putting us on the map as a cycling destination. There are very good conditions for gravel races here, both along the coast and especially inland. We look forward to the competition taking its next step, where we want to develop the event together with the organizer,” says Camilla Axelsson, Head of Destination Development at Destination Halmstad.
