Simsalabus: Skövde’s Magical Winter Light Fairy

Simsalabim – give us light! It is time for the Fairy of Light to illuminate Skövde in the November darkness.

Simsalabus – Let There Be Light! The Light Fairy is Ready to Illuminate Skövde in November Darkness

November darkness has descended upon Skövde, and it’s time for ”Stad i ljus” (City of Light) event. On November 28th, the city will transform into a glittering winter landscape, with Skövde’s very own light fairy waving her magic wand, exclaiming ”Simsalabus – give us light!”

Event Highlights

During the inauguration of Stad i ljus, the light fairy will ride around on a horse-drawn carriage, illuminating everything that will shine throughout December and until January 12th. This year’s new light installation is ”The Heart” at Kulturhustorget, where visitors can take selfies and spread love.

”Stad i ljus has become a beloved tradition here in Skövde and the start of Christmas. An evening of glitter, warmth, and magical encounters, perfect for both young and old,” says Katarina Blad, project manager at Next Skövde.

Inauguration Program

  • 17:00 – Skövde Energi & Rapp Fastigheter offer mulled wine and gingerbread
  • 17:20 – Children’s choirs Korallerna and Cantica spread Christmas joy with singing
  • 17:40 – Church choir Carmina provides beautiful atmosphere in winter darkness
  • 18:00 – Light fairy enters, traveling by horse and carriage, lighting installations in Kyrkparken and Kulturhustorget
  • Approximately 18:30 – Fire show by Infinite Moves at Kulturhustorget

Two arches have also found a new location, safely guiding visitors into the sparkling world of the church park. Take a walk through the tunnel and let the light truly envelop you.
