Christmas in the City 2025 – Skövde Invites Everyone to Festive Holiday Cheer
Christmas descends upon Skövde, filling the city with aromas, laughter, and community spirit. During ”Christmas in the City”, visitors can expect everything from traditional Christmas markets and theater performances to creative craft sessions, pony rides, and meetings with Santa himself.
First Advent: Children’s Christmas Celebration
As the first advent arrives, Skövde fully embraces the holiday spirit. On November 30th, the Children’s Christmas event kicks off, where children can roast marshmallows, meet Bubbel and Bubblan, and of course, encounter Santa.
”During Children’s Christmas, the youngest will meet Santa, ride ponies, and experience genuine Christmas magic. There’s something truly special about seeing children’s eyes sparkle when Christmas arrives in Skövde,” says Katarina Blad, project manager at Next Skövde.
New Attraction: Bubbel and Bubblan
A novelty this year is Bubbel and Bubblan, who spread joy, color, and shimmering soap bubbles wherever they go. They create small, large, and gigantic bubbles dancing through the air while mingling with visitors.
Traditional Christmas Market
On December 6th, the traditional Christmas market takes place at Hertig Johans Square, featuring handicrafts, delicacies, and holiday scents. The square will host 37 unique stalls, carefully curated to ensure each offers distinctive products.
”Coordinating the Christmas market with UF companies and Helénsparken feels like an exciting initiative. Together we’re creating a wonderful mix of tradition, creativity, and holiday atmosphere – something for every taste,” says Katarina Blad.
Easy Access and Parking
Attending holiday events in Skövde is convenient, with free parking available at Commerce parking house and municipal parking areas during Children’s Christmas. During the Christmas market, Arena Skövde’s parking areas are also free, making it easy to combine holiday activities with local shopping.
