Swedish Rugby Championship to be Held in Kalmar
On August 23-24, Sweden’s top rugby teams will gather in Kalmar to compete in the Sweden Rugby 7s 2025, the Swedish national championship for 7-player rugby.
The championship will feature an exciting two-day tournament at Södra utmarken, with group stages on Saturday and final matches on Sunday. Spectators can expect fast-paced matches and an incredible atmosphere as the country’s top players compete for the master title in both men’s and women’s categories.
Championship Details
The championship is being arranged by Kalmar Södra IF in collaboration with the Swedish Rugby Federation, Destination Kalmar, and Kalmar Municipality. Kalmar Södra IF is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, with rugby being part of the club for the past 16 years.
”The championship is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our sport locally. We will experience rugby in a fan-friendly package with tight and intense matches. Kalmar Södra has both men’s and women’s teams in the final showdown,” says Adam Christerston, Kalmar Södra IF.
”Rugby engages many in Kalmar, especially in high schools where exciting matches are fought between Stagg and Kagg schools. We hope many will take the chance to see rugby at the top level. Tournament Specifics
In the 7s format, each team has 7 players on the field and 5 substitutes. Teams are allowed 5 substitutions during each match in the tournament’s final stages.
