Great Community Festival in Skellefteå: Over 200 Neighborhood Parties Registered
On August 30th, Skellefteå Municipality is hosting its first ”The Big Neighborhood Festival” – a community event designed to unite residents in a fun and engaging way.
Unprecedented Community Participation
The festival has already seen remarkable success, with over 205 neighborhood parties registered across the municipality. David Ekström, the communication officer who initiated the project, shared his excitement:
”Right now, 205 neighborhood parties have registered. That’s significantly more than we anticipated or hoped for. But honestly, I’m not surprised. The municipality’s residents are innovative and love creating things together. We are extremely grateful for this.”
Widespread Geographic Representation
The festival’s registration spans almost the entire Skellefteå municipality, from Missenträsk in the northwest to Avan and Lövånger in the southeast. Notable areas with high participation include:
- Kåge
- Lövånger
- Jörn
- Boliden
- Byske
- Bureå
What to Expect
During the festival week, registered participants can pick up a small festival kit at the municipal house. The event will also reveal lottery winners, including a chef who will cook for a neighborhood party and a troubadour who will visit during the evening.
Future Plans
While the exact number of participants remains unknown, the municipality plans to survey registered hosts after the event to gather attendance data. This information will help them improve and potentially break their own record in future years.
The ultimate goal is to create a new tradition that brings Skellefteå’s residents together in a spirit of community and celebration.
