Skövde Food Festival Filled the City with Food, Music, and Encounters
This weekend, the Food Festival took place in Skövde, filling the city center with delicious food, live music, and fantastic atmosphere. This year’s new addition was the ”Associations Square” – an arena where Skövde’s local organizations could showcase themselves and interact with visitors. In total, 26 restaurants participated, offering food from 27 different tents and food trucks.
Festival Highlights
”We are very satisfied with this year’s festival where restauranteurs and partners have delivered top-notch experiences for our visitors. We were lucky with the weather and feel great gratitude to all Skövde residents and visitors who came and contributed to the atmosphere,” says Magnus Sundmark, project manager for the Food Festival at Next Skövde.
Music from Three Stages
Visitors enjoyed around 30 program points from three different stages: the Main Stage at Kulturhustorget, Skafferiet’s Stage, and the Small Stage in Kyrkparken.
”Our artists on the Main Stage thought Skövde and the audience delivered top-class performances, which is fantastic! Several artists, such as Thirsty from Scarlet and Beny from Elov & Beny, also had connections to Skövde, which made it extra enjoyable,” says Katarina Blad, stage manager for the Food Festival.
Festival Awards
During the festival, a jury visited various food stands to award winners in four categories. New this year was the jury’s prize for the best food truck. The local restaurant Mattiasmat won three awards:
- Jury’s Prize for Best Interior: Mattiasmat
- Jury’s Prize for Best Service: Den Lilla Krogen
- Jury’s Prize for Best Food Truck: Nenna’s Foodtruck
- Jury’s Grand Festival Prize: Mattiasmat
- Visitors’ Prize for Best Restaurant: Mattiasmat
Interesting Festival Facts
- Over 250 volunteers were engaged in various roles during the festival
- 375 children received face painting, helping students raise 15,000 SEK for their class fund
