Kalmar Castle Seeks Paintings by Artist Lotte Laserstein
In December, Kalmar Castle will open its winter exhibition dedicated to the artist Lotte Laserstein. To showcase the artist’s extensive range, the castle is now seeking additional paintings – particularly works that tell more about the artist’s life.
Winter Exhibition Details
The exhibition will run from December 11, 2025, to February 22, 2026, highlighting the German-Swedish artist who lived in Kalmar and Öland for a significant portion of her life.
Seeking Specific Artworks
Working with Lotte Laserstein’s friend Peter Fors, Kalmar Castle has already collected paintings from private individuals in the Kalmar and Öland areas. The exhibition producers are now looking for specific types of artwork:
- Landscapes or buildings from Kalmar and Öland
- Additional child portraits
- Paintings that tell a story about Lotte Laserstein’s life
”We want to showcase the paintings from our area that may have never been shown to the public before. It feels special to display what Lotte Laserstein has left behind in our region,” says Meg Nömgård, Castle Director.
How to Contribute
Those interested in lending a painting for the exhibition should email kalmarslott@kalmar.com with a photo of the artwork and a brief description of its history.
”It’s amazing to see new paintings I haven’t seen before, and all the wonderful stories that come with them. Together, they provide an even richer picture of my friend and her art,” says Peter Fors.
While Kalmar Castle cannot guarantee that all submitted works will be included due to space limitations, all paintings are valuable for the exhibition’s research and development.
