Record Interest in New Surveying Program in Skellefteå
This autumn, University of Gävle, in close collaboration with Skellefteå Universities Alliance (SUA), will launch a new distance surveying education program where students are offered physical meetings at Campus Skellefteå to conduct laboratory work and engage with industry professionals. The focus on property law and land use proved highly attractive, with significant interest nationwide and particularly strong representation from northern Sweden.
Program Details
- Three-year program leading to a bachelor’s degree
- Delivered primarily online from Gävle
- Regular in-person meetings at Campus Skellefteå
- Opportunities for laboratory work and industry networking
”The need for surveyors in northern Sweden is substantial, and we have long worked to establish an education that meets both the labor market’s needs and students’ desires for an attractive study location. This is an excellent combination,” says Kenth Johanssons, education strategist at Campus Skellefteå.
Unique Collaboration
The program has been developed in close partnership with the National Land Survey, local actors, and Skellefteå municipality. The industry will be actively involved through guest lectures, study visits, and summer job opportunities.
”We have worked together with Skellefteå and local businesses for a long time to shape an education that responds to labor market needs and offers students a high-quality learning environment. We are very pleased that our collaboration has yielded results,” says Jesper Paasch, program director at University of Gävle.
Campus Skellefteå’s Growth
Campus Skellefteå continues to expand as a multi-campus – a meeting place for several educational institutions attracting students from across the country. The new surveying program is a crucial piece in the long-term strategy to strengthen Skellefteå as a study destination.
”It’s important to us that students gain strong roots in the environment where they might work. The on-site meetings in Skellefteå play a significant role in helping them get to know each other and the Skellefteå region,” Jesper Paasch adds.
