Welcome House Launches Innovative Initiative for Newcomers in Skellefteå
In 2025, nearly 2,000 people have chosen to move to Skellefteå. To help these newcomers settle in, Welcome House Skellefteå is launching an exciting new concept.
”Welcome House Days is our way of saying a warm welcome to Skellefteå – a place where you not only move in, but also belong,”
says Sofia Sturesson, Project Manager of Welcome House Skellefteå.
What Are Welcome House Days?
Welcome House Days invites new residents to get to know both the municipality and local businesses. Participants will receive information from various departments and cultural organizations, making it easier to find their place in Skellefteå.
”Welcome House Days is a new initiative targeting everyone who has moved to Skellefteå. Previously, we organized Spouse Days for accompanying partners, but now we want to broaden our target group and create a meeting place for all new inhabitants – regardless of background or reason for moving,”
Sturesson explains.
Building Connections and Community
The initiative also provides an opportunity to mingle and create new contacts. It might help newcomers find future friends or people with similar leisure interests.
”We want it to be easy to find your place here, whether it’s about work, leisure, or new friendships. Welcome House Days is the beginning of building that network,”
adds Sturesson.
