Svenstorp Art Center – Tourism Company of the Year 2025
During yesterday evening’s Business Gala in Götene, Svenstorp Art Center was awarded the Tourism Company of the Year 2025 by Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle AB. This prestigious award recognizes tourism businesses that have done something special during the past year.
A Unique Achievement
”We are very proud of the award and so surprised and happy about all the positive response we’ve received since opening, from neighbors, locals, and all visitors who have come to us. It means a lot to see how people return, often with new friends from near and far,” says Erik Johansson, who arrived directly from Prague to receive the prize.
About Svenstorp Art Center
Svenstorp Art Center is a newly opened art center in Holmestad, run by internationally recognized photo artist Erik Johansson together with his sister Anna-Karin Hall. Visitors are greeted by a permanent exhibition of Erik’s surrealistic photo art in a renovated barn, complemented by a café, shop, and guest exhibitions.
Award Motivation
The jury highlighted several key aspects of Svenstorp Art Center:
- A bold and visionary initiative that puts Skaraborg on the international visitor map
- A spectacular experience location transformed from a traditional barn
- Attracts new target groups and strengthens cultural infrastructure
- Demonstrates the possibilities when creativity and love for the region drive development
”That a world-renowned artist chooses to build something so significant in Götene is both unexpected and fantastic,” says Anna Ohlin Ek, CEO of Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle AB.
Supporting Local Tourism
Anna Ohlin Ek emphasized the importance of tourism businesses: ”The tourism industry consists of many different sectors in areas like accommodation, dining, activities, experiences, and shopping. These businesses make our place lively and attractive to live in.”
The Tourism Company of the Year award includes a diploma and a scholarship of 5,000 Swedish kronor.
