Tomtenatta: A Magical Christmas Evening in Östersund’s City Center
On December 18th, Östersund will host Tomtenatta, a festive evening featuring a brand new Christmas market and a variety of holiday activities for all ages.
What Makes This Event Special
”This year’s novelty is the Christmas market, where many local actors and exhibitors will be present. It will complement the late-night shopping and family activities like the Santa parade and meeting Santa. We want to offer something that suits both children and adults and provides an extra reason to visit the city center,” says Bea Olsson, project manager at Destination Östersund.
Event Highlights
Music and Open Stage
At Mittpunkten, an open stage will run from 17:00-20:00, with a house pianist providing music and opportunities for audience participation.
Christmas Market
Located at C:nen, Prästgatan 39, the ”Tomtenatta Christmas Market” will run from 16:00-20:00. Local exhibitors include:
- Tivars Ost
- Fru Fröken Karamell
- Linnean Blommor
- Norderö Antik
- Braständare UF
Between 18:00-19:00, Ullis and the reindeer Rudolf will also be present.
Santa Parade and Family Activities
The Santa Parade begins at 18:00 near Hübenettes bookstore. Show4All will warm up the crowd before the parade proceeds along Prästgatan to Mårtens Torg, where the evening concludes with a ring dance around the Christmas tower, led by Emil Eklöv.
Meet Santa
Children can visit Santa in his cottage at Smithens gård, Biblioteksgatan 9, from 17:00-20:00 to share their wish lists.
Local Shopping
City stores will remain open until 20:00.
