Linköping Celebrates Sustainable and Innovative Tourism Businesses of 2025
On the occasion of the Tourism Industry Day in Linköping, Visit Linköping & Co awarded prizes to local tourism businesses that excel in innovation and sustainability. A craft bakery/BBQ restaurant in Malmslätt and a shop in Old Linköping emerged as this year’s winners.
Event Highlights
The Tourism Industry Day 2025 was held at the Air Force Museum, attracting approximately 150 participants from Linköping and Östergötland’s tourism sector. During the afternoon, two businesses were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the tourism industry in 2025.
”We have many successful businesses in Linköping’s tourism industry who are both inventive and work hard to meet both customer and planetary requirements. Through these awards, we want to highlight some of these businesses as inspiration for others,” says Jörgen Nilsson, Tourism Manager at Visit Linköping & Co.
Award Winners
Most Innovative: Öhrberg & Laveryd Bakery & BBQ
The jury praised the bakery for challenging conventions and redefining the local food scene. Located in an unexpected backyard, they’ve created a unique restaurant experience with smoky food culture, music, and exceptional baked goods.
”The award is confirmation that we’re doing something innovative that is appreciated by many, especially long-distance guests. We started as a bakery and now do barbecue and deli. We simply follow what customers want, and our motto is ’if you want it, we have it’,” says Emil Öhrberg and David Laveryd.
Most Sustainable: Tvålmakaren (The Soap Maker)
Located in Old Linköping, this business was recognized for its long-term commitment to green and responsible consumption. They offer a consistently sustainable product range, including handmade organic soaps and carefully selected goods from other suppliers.
”I want to contribute to making my customers’ daily lives more sustainable by manufacturing organic soaps on-site in Old Linköping and avoiding plastic,” says Chil Loong, owner of Tvålmakaren.
Additional Finalists
Other finalists included Ölsbo Farm Brewery and Linköping Cathedral in the Sustainability category, and Elite Stora Hotellet and Sara’s Garden Shop in the Innovation category.
