Increased Interest in Winter Activities – Five Operators Gather in New Pop-Up in Skellefteå
Skellefteå is growing as a winter destination, and five operators, led by Arctic Outdoor, are now joining forces to enhance the range of winter activities in the municipality. Starting this week, a pop-up store opens on Trädgårdsgatan in central Skellefteå, in the former Newen premises.
Diverse Winter Activities Under One Roof
In the pop-up location, visitors can rent cross-country skis, fatbikes, snowshoes, and book experiences and guided tours. The storefront also showcases offerings from Arctic Outdoor’s partners, including:
- Lappvik
- Sundog Huskies
- Skellefteå Adventurepark
- Skellefteå Rodelsällskap
All operators offer activities for both individuals and businesses, with the joint initiative planned to continue until the end of February/March.
The Vision Behind the Initiative
The initiative is spearheaded by Arctic Outdoor and its founder, Ulrika Stenberg. Though based in Askersund, Örebro County, Stenberg has family in Skellefteå and a summer house in Boliden. She is an entrepreneur with extensive experience in guided experiences, having worked as a guide in the Italian Alps, Portugal, and Finnish Lapland.
”When I wanted to establish my business in northern Sweden, I saw a clear opportunity in Skellefteå. By gathering an even richer winter offering in one place right in the city center, we can make it more visible and accessible for residents and visitors,” says Ulrika Stenberg.
Collaborative Effort
The initiative is in collaboration with Visit Skellefteå, which helped Ulrika gather several local tourism operators. One of these is Skellefteå Rodelsällskap, represented by Johannes Lindberg, who already works closely with Visit Skellefteå.
”As a non-profit organization, it’s not always easy to reach new target groups with our offering. Being able to appear in a new context together with other operators, where we highlight each other, makes a big difference, both for us and for visitors who discover more winter activities,” explains Johannes Lindberg.
