Sweden’s First Culture Night Celebrates 40 Years!
On the third Saturday in September, Lund will celebrate Culture Night for the 40th time! Since its inception in 1985, the number of program items has more than tenfold increased, with participating organizations continuing to grow each year.
A Spectacular Celebration
”Culture Night’s 40th anniversary will be celebrated with a bang. It will be a full day that showcases Kulturlund and the city of Lund at its very best,” says Anders Almgren, Chair of the City Council.
Highlights of the Event
- Youth Stage at Mårtenstorget featuring diverse music genres
- Artist Kaliffa performing festive hits
- Iconic physics and laser show at Lund University’s Physics Department
- DJ and light show at Stortorget to conclude the night
Special Features
The physics and laser show, a favorite since 1996, has been performed over 2,500 times and seen by more than half a million people. This year is extra special as the institution celebrates its 75th anniversary during the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
Artistic Touch
The event’s poster, created by artist Finsta for the third consecutive year, transforms the Domkyrkan cathedral into a gift-wrapped package. A limited number of posters will be available at the City Hall’s information desk during Culture Night.
Event Information
The digital program will be available at kulturnatten.nu from August 26th. The printed program will be distributed a week before the event and can be picked up at public libraries and most event venues.
