Skövde Shows Strong Growth – Overnight Stays Increase by Over 7% for Second Year in a Row
Skövde continues to strengthen its position as an attractive destination. During the summer months of June–August 2025, 76,376 overnight stays were registered, representing a 7.2 percent increase compared to last year.
This marks the second consecutive year that Skövde has demonstrated growth exceeding 7 percent. Moreover, this year’s result is the strongest since 2018, before the pandemic altered travel behaviors.
”These are fantastic numbers! The fact that we are not just growing, but doing so with this strength for two years in a row, shows a very positive trend. It clearly demonstrates that Skövde attracts both new and returning visitors. This is a testament to our investments in areas like Billingen and our events,” says Mats Olsson, CEO of Next Skövde.
Factors Driving Growth
The increase stems from a combination of factors:
- Strong events
- A wide range of activities for both adults and children
- Growing curiosity about Skövde as a travel destination
”More people choosing to stay overnight has a positive effect on the local business ecosystem. It creates ripple effects for restaurants, shops, and experience providers,” Mats continues.
With this positive trend, Skövde looks forward to continuing to develop the destination and welcoming even more visitors throughout the year.
