Dalarna Surpasses One Million Foreign Overnight Stays

The number of foreign visitors to Dalarna increased by 11.5% in the tourism year 2025, representing 104,184 additional overnight stays, compared to a 9.2% increase in Sweden overall. The largest increase comes from Danish tourists, primarily attracted to Dalarna for alpine skiing. An impressive 22.3% of all Danish travelers visiting Sweden choose Dalarna, making it the number one destination for Danish tourists.

”We have high-quality tourism actors who are doing an amazing job, and Dalarna has long been actively working on multiple fronts to sustainably attract international visitors,” says Åsa Granat, Acting CEO of Visit Dalarna.

Milestone Achievement

For the first time, Dalarna has exceeded one million foreign overnight stays, reaching 1,006,812 guest nights during the period from December 2024 to November 2025. This achievement highlights Dalarna’s strong position as a winter destination in Sweden.
