Record Year for Tourism in Falkenberg – Close to One Million Guest Nights in 2025
Tourism in Falkenberg continues to thrive, reaching new record levels in 2025. According to preliminary figures from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, Halland is one of the regions in Sweden with the most significant increase in guest nights, with Falkenberg being the most popular destination.
Impressive Tourism Statistics
- Over 978,000 guest nights registered in 2025
- 9.7% increase compared to the previous year’s record of 891,446 guest nights
Extended Seasons and Strengthened Low Season
While Falkenberg remains most popular during summer, the destination is experiencing significant growth during traditionally slower periods. A more diverse visitor offering, an agile tourism industry, and targeted marketing for season extension are delivering impressive results.
Visitor Demographics
- Stable increase of Swedish guest nights: 8.7%
- Significant international visitor growth: 19%
- Denmark showed the most growth among international markets
- Norway remains the top international visitor source
Accommodation Trends
Camping remains the most popular accommodation type, but the hotel segment is experiencing the most substantial growth. Hotels are particularly preferred during non-summer seasons, which aligns with the period of most significant increase.
”Falkenberg is delivering fantastic numbers, and much suggests that this positive trend will continue. The new Stop-over hotel, the continuously expanding Gekås Ullared, and the upcoming Fehmarn Belt connection are promising signs. Next year, we hope to pass the magical million guest nights mark,” says Fredrik Janson, CEO of Destination Falkenberg.
Statistical Notes
The accommodation statistics are based on data from establishments registered with Statistics Sweden, including hotels, camping sites, cabin villages, and hostels. While the reports are submitted monthly, the final confirmed statistics will be published in April of the following year.
Note: In 2024, many hotels changed booking systems, which occasionally resulted in incomplete guest origin registration.
