City Card Continues to Strengthen Local Business in Östersund
In 2025, City Card sales in Östersund reached nearly 5.8 million Swedish kronor, distributed across 10,000 sold cards. This represents a 1% increase compared to 2024, with all proceeds directly supporting the local economy. Additionally, the municipality provided a Christmas gift of 2.8 million kronor to its 7,000 employees through the digital gift card Peyo.
”We know that the City Card is an appreciated gift, both to give and receive,” says Anna Borg from Destination Östersund. ”Cardholders can choose from restaurants, cafés, clothing, household items, beauty treatments, cinema, or even lessons. This wide range makes the card attractive. It’s incredibly fun to see the continued strong interest in supporting our local businesses.”
The trend is pointing upward. The year 2026 has started incredibly strong, with a 30% increase in January compared to the same period in 2025. Since its inception, the City Card has been a crucial tool for strengthening local trade and contributing to a vibrant city center.
