City Card Continues to Strengthen Local Business in Östersund
In 2025, City Card sales in Östersund reached nearly 5.8 million Swedish kronor, distributed across 10,000 sold cards. This represents a 1% increase compared to 2024, with funds directly supporting the local economy. Additionally, the municipality provided a Christmas gift of 2.8 million kronor to its 7,000 employees through the digital gift card Peyo.
”We know that the City Card is an appreciated gift, both to give and receive,” says Anna Borg from Destination Östersund. ”Card holders can choose from restaurant visits, clothing purchases, household items, beauty treatments, cinema tickets, or even taking a lesson. The wide range makes the card attractive. It’s incredibly fun to see that interest continues to be strong in supporting our local businesses.”
The development is pointing upward. The year 2026 has started exceptionally strong, with a 30% increase in January compared to the same period in 2025. Since its inception, the City Card has been a crucial tool for strengthening local trade and contributing to a vibrant city center.
