Record Number of Guest Nights in Skåne in 2025
Visit Skåne can now summarize the visitor year 2025. A total of 7.2 million guest nights were registered during the year, representing a five percent increase since 2024. This marks the highest level ever recorded.
International Visitors Drive Growth
The success is primarily driven by international visitors. The number of foreign guest nights rose by over 15 percent compared to 2023. Key markets showed significant growth:
- Germany increased interest by 17 percent, becoming the largest foreign market
- Denmark, the second-largest foreign market, grew by five percent
- The United States showed a remarkable 16 percent increase
Seasonal and Regional Trends
While July and August remain the most popular months for visiting Skåne, interest is growing faster during other months, with a six percent increase compared to four percent during peak summer months.
”We have a long-term trend where Skåne has strengthened its position as a destination over many years. We see continued great interest from foreign visitors and a growing curiosity about alternative travel destinations outside our classic destinations,” says Max Granström, CEO of Visit Skåne.
Accommodation and Economic Impact
Hotels maintained a strong position, accounting for 70 percent of all guest nights, while camping represented 23 percent. The hotel occupancy rate increased to 58 percent, with total accommodation revenues rising by eight percent.
