Polish Winter Travelers Discover Skellefteå
More and more Polish travelers are choosing Skellefteå as a winter destination. Thanks to the Ryanair route between Gdansk and Skellefteå, not only have we in northern Sweden gained a delightful weekend destination, but Polish travelers have also been given the opportunity to explore Skellefteå.
Through a collaboration between the local incoming operator Arctic Essence DMC and the Polish tour operator Odkryj Polnoc (Discover North), complete weekly packages are now being offered.
Exciting Winter Experiences
This week, the first group is in Skellefteå, experiencing days and evenings packed with winter activities. The program includes:
- Ice bathing
- Snowmobiling
- Dog sledding
- Alpine sledding
- Northern Lights hunting
- Local culinary experiences
The group has also enjoyed a hockey match at Skellefteå Kraft Arena.
Local Perspectives
”I feel so proud to showcase everything we have to offer and the wonderful collaboration with all entrepreneurs,” says Cecilia Ärlebo from Arctic Essence DMC. ”Sales for next winter are already underway, and we’ve received the first bookings.”
At Skellefteå Tourist Center, a clear increase in Polish visitors interested in winter experiences is noticeable.
”They are curious and want to experience as much as possible, and we receive many questions about the Northern Lights,” reports Anna Bodell from Skellefteå Tourist Center.
Flight Route Success
Robert Lindberg from Skellefteå Airport confirms the flight line’s success and sustained interest.
”The route has evolved from a commuter line to attracting more and more private travelers from both Sweden and Poland,” says Robert Lindberg.
