Love Has Landed on Hertig Johan’s Square

The beloved heart that illuminated the Culture House Square during the winter as part of ”City of Light” event has now found a new home. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the heart has landed on Hertig Johan’s square, ready to spread love, warmth, and joy.

A Symbol of Community and Connection

During the ”City of Light” event, the heart quickly became a cherished spot for meetings, photographs, and messages to loved ones. Now its journey through Skövde continues, with the ambition that the installation will live on throughout the year, appearing in different locations across the city.

”The heart is a symbol of warmth, care, and community, and a place where we can pause, take a picture, and send some love forward,” says Emma Edqvist, destination developer at Skövde Citysamverkan/Next Skövde.

An Open Invitation

The heart is freely accessible 24/7 and open to anyone who wants to share a moment or take a photo with someone they care about.

More Than Just an Installation

Owned by Skövde municipality, the heart is part of the city’s place branding. Its unique pattern symbolizes collective city-building, playfully demonstrating that there’s always room for new residents, talents, innovations, and visitors.

”The heart is part of our joint effort to strengthen Skövde as a welcoming city where we meet and enjoy being together. It connects to our keywords: Connect, Explore, Enjoy, and is a simple invitation to pause, take a selfie, and send some love to someone you care about,” says Evalena Öman, City Landscape Architect in Skövde municipality.

The heart serves as a reminder that Skövde is a place where everyone belongs.
