Skövde Prepares for Winter SM Week 2027: 365 Days Countdown Begins

In just one year, Skövde will transform into Sweden’s premier winter sports arena. Preparations are in full swing for the Winter SM Week 2027, an event designed to fill arenas, attract television viewers, and put Skövde on the national sports map.

Event Details and Preparations

With 365 days remaining until the Winter SM Week (February 3, 2027), significant progress has been made. Applications from national sports federations for participation have closed. Currently, a joint selection process is underway involving Next Skövde, the Swedish Sports Confederation, Skövde Municipality, and SVT.

The clear objective is to create an event with:

  • A diverse range of sports
  • Strong television dramaturgy
  • Excellent audience experiences

”SM Week Winter 2027 is much more than competitions. It’s a folk festival, a showcase for sports and culture, and a fantastic opportunity to display Skövde at its very best,” says Magnus Sundmark, Project Manager for SM Week.

Community Collaboration

The event will be a collaborative effort involving local sports clubs, businesses, and the municipality. The goal is to create a week filled with competitions, medal ceremonies, entertainment, and experiences for athletes, Skövde residents, and visitors.

”This is our chance to step forward nationally. We have the experience, commitment, and will, and now we have a year to refine every detail. The countdown has begun, and we intend to make the most of each day,” continues Magnus Sundmark.

Event Specifics

The Winter SM Week 2027 will be held in Skövde during week 5, from February 3-7, 2027, and will be broadcast on SVT.

Sports enthusiasts and event followers can look forward to an exciting week that promises to showcase Skövde as a dynamic and sports-friendly destination.
